The Cockroach Theory for Self Development (by Sundar Pichai - an IIT-MIT Alumnus and SVP, Android, Chrome & Apps at Google)

The cockroach theory for self development

At a restaurant, a cockroach suddenly flew from somewhere and sat on a lady.

She started screaming out of fear.

With a panic stricken face and trembling voice, she started jumping, with both her hands desperately trying to get rid of the cockroach.
Her reaction was contagious, as everyone in her group also got panicky.

The lady finally managed to push the cockroach away but ...it landed on another lady in the group.

Now, it was the turn of the other lady in the group to continue the drama.

The waiter rushed forward to their rescue.

In the relay of throwing, the cockroach next fell upon the waiter.
The waiter stood firm, composed himself and observed the behavior of the cockroach on his shirt.

When he was confident enough, he grabbed it with his fingers and threw it out of the restaurant.

Sipping my coffee and watching the amusement, the antenna of my mind picked up a few thoughts and started wondering, was the cockroach responsible for their histrionic behavior?

If so, then why was the waiter not disturbed?

He handled it near to perfection, without any chaos.
It is not the cockroach, but the inability of the ladies to handle the disturbance caused by the cockroach that disturbed the ladies.
I realized that, it is not the shouting of my father or my boss or my wife that disturbs me, but it's my inability to handle the disturbances caused by their shouting that disturbs me.
It's not the traffic jams on the road that disturbs me, but my inability to handle the disturbance caused by the traffic jam that disturbs me.

More than the problem, it's my reaction to the problem that creates chaos in my life.

Lessons learnt from the story:

I understood, I should not react in life.
I should always respond.
The women reacted, whereas the waiter responded.
Reactions are always instinctive whereas responses are always well thought of.

A beautiful way to understand............LIFE.
Person who is HAPPY is not because Everything is RIGHT in his Life..

He is HAPPY because his Attitude towards Everything in his life is right !

SATYA NADELLA’S Open letter to all Microsoft employees

From: Satya Nadella
To: All Employees
Date: July 10, 2014 at 6:00 a.m. PT
Subject: Starting FY15 - Bold Ambition & Our Core

Team,

As we start FY15, I want to thank you for all of your contributions this past year. I’m proud of what we collectively achieved even as we drove significant changes in our business and organization. It’s energizing to feel the momentum and enthusiasm building. The day I took on my new role I said that our industry does not respect tradition – it only respects innovation. I also said that in order to accelerate our innovation, we must rediscover our soul – our unique core. We must all understand and embrace what only Microsoft can contribute to the world and how we can once again change the world. I consider the job before us to be bolder and more ambitious than anything we have ever done.

Our ambitions are bold and so must be our desire to change and evolve our culture.

I truly believe that we spend far too much time at work for it not to drive personal meaning and satisfaction. Together we have the opportunity to create technology that impacts the planet.

Nothing is off the table in how we think about shifting our culture to deliver on this core strategy. Organizations will change. Mergers and acquisitions will occur. Job responsibilities will evolve. New partnerships will be formed. Tired traditions will be questioned. Our priorities will be adjusted. New skills will be built. New ideas will be heard. New hires will be made. Processes will be simplified. And if you want to thrive at Microsoft and make a world impact, you and your team must add numerous more changes to this list that you will be enthusiastic about driving.

I am committed to making Microsoft the best place for smart, curious, ambitious people to do their best work.

First, we will obsess over our customers.
Obsessing over our customers is everybody’s job. I’m looking to the engineering teams to build the experiences our customers love. I’m looking to the sales and marketing organizations to showcase our unique value propositions and drive customer usage first and foremost.

In order to deliver the experiences our customers need for the mobile-first and cloudfirst world, we will modernize our engineering processes to be customer-obsessed, data-driven, speed-oriented and quality-focused. We will be more effective in predicting and understanding what our customers need and more nimble in adjusting to information we get from the market. We will streamline the engineering process and reduce the amount of time and energy it takes to get things done. You can expect to have fewer processes but more focused and measurable outcomes. You will see fewer people get involved in decisions and more emphasis on accountability. Further, you will see investments in two new or combined functions: Data and Applied Science and Software Engineering. Each engineering group will have Data and Applied Science resources that will focus on measurable outcomes for our products and predictive analysis of market trends, which will allow us to innovate more effectively. Software Engineering will evolve so that information can travel more quickly, with fewer breakpoints between the envisioning of a product or service and a quality delivery to customers. In making these changes we are getting closer to the customer and pushing more accountability throughout the organization.

Second, we know the changes above will bring on the need for new training, learning and experimentation.

Over the next six months you will see new investments in our workforce, such as enhanced training and development and more opportunities to test new ideas and incubate new projects. I have also heard from many of you that changing jobs is challenging. We will change the process and mindset so you can more seamlessly move around the company to roles where you can have the most impact and personal growth. All of this, too, comes with accountability and the need to deliver great work for customers, but it is clear that investing in future learning and growth has great benefit for everyone.

I am committed to making Microsoft the best place for smart, curious, ambitious people to do their best work.

Finally, every team across Microsoft must find ways to simplify and move faster, more efficiently.

We will increase the fluidity of information and ideas by taking actions to flatten the organization and develop leaner business processes. Culture change means we will do things differently. Often people think that means everyone other than them. In reality, it means all of us taking a new approach and working together to make Microsoft better. To this end, I’ve asked each member of the Senior Leadership Team to evaluate opportunities to advance their innovation processes and simplify their operations and how they work. We will share more on this throughout July.

A few months ago on a call with investors I quoted Nietzsche and said that we must have “courage in the face of reality.” Even more important, we must have courage in the face of opportunity.

We have clarity in purpose to empower every individual and organization to do more and achieve more. We have the right capabilities to reinvent productivity and platforms for the mobile-first and cloud-first world. Now, we must build the right culture to take advantage of our huge opportunity. And culture change starts with one individual at a time.

Rainer Maria Rilke’s words say it best: “The future enters into us, in order to transform itself in us, long before it happens.”

We must each have the courage to transform as individuals. We must ask ourselves, what idea can I bring to life? What insight can I illuminate? What individual life could I change? What customer can I delight? What new skill could I learn? What team could I help build? What orthodoxy should I question?

With the courage to transform individually, we will collectively transform this company and seize the great opportunity ahead.

Wipro chairman Mr. Azim prem ji's comment on reservation

Wipro chairman Mr. Azim prem ji's comment on reservation: Good one.. read on....*

I think we should have job reservations in all the fields. I completely support the PM and all the politicians for promoting

this. Let's start the reservation with our cricket team. We should have 10 percent reservation for Muslims. 30 percent for OBC, SC/ST like that. Cricket rules should be modified accordingly. The boundary circle should be reduced for an SC/ST player. The four hit by an SC/ST/OBC player should be considered as a six and a six hit by a SC/ST/OBC player should be counted as 8 runs. An SC/ST/OBC player scoring 60 runs should be declared as a century. We should influence ICC and make rules so that the pace bowlers like Shoaib Akhtar should not bowl fast balls to our SC/ST/OBC player. Bowlers should bowl maximum speed of 80 kilometer per hour to an SC/ST/OBC player. Any delivery above this speed should be made illegal.

Also we should have reservation in Olympics. In the 100 meters race, an SC/ST/OBC player should be given a gold medal if he runs 80 meters.

There can be reservation in Government jobs also. Let's recruit SC/ST and OBC pilots for aircrafts which are carrying the ministers and politicians (that can really help the country.. )

Ensure that only SC/ST and OBC doctors do the operations for the ministers and other politicians. (Another way of saving the country..)

Let's be creative and think of ways and means to guide INDIA forward...

Let's show the world that INDIA is a GREAT country. Let's be proud of being an INDIAN..

May the good breed of politicians long live..

Mummy, Papa Toh Khoob Hi Kamaat Hain Mehangai Dayian Khaye Jaat Hai | A quick story of my weekend… Movie followed by Shopping

Well, I’m gonna describe the quick story of my last weekend…
On Saturday I woke up at 7 am, I was wondering that my mobile showing me correct time. Its very rare for me on weekend!

‘Nitin, can we go for INCEPTION today, I heard a lot about it’, my mate said who was in sleepy mood.
‘Even, I’ve seen IMDB profile. I found its good movie’ I said.
‘Can you arrange ticket at the moment’ Mate said.
‘Ok I’ll… I started Firefox Mozilla; and the tabs counting with PVR, BigCinemas, DT, JAM… I had found some good options nearby my place’

‘Is it in Hindi?’ my mate said.
‘No, Hindi version only in Delhi, I can only go for morning show and Gurgaon only, because later on have some work there’ I said.
‘OK, that fine’ mate said.

We gone for that movie, I loved the sync situation of last part of movie. I only can say amazing thought, concept, movie…
We came out from Audi no 3, my mate just saw an Ad Board. It was showing SALE UPTO 60% @ Reliance Trends.
‘Can we go? It’s just down the floor’, my mate said.
‘Ok’ I said.

We entered the show room. We found some good stuff on heavily discounted rate. We selected some good tees and jeans and made trial room busy.
Suddenly, I found my cell on vibrate, that rang with AR Rahaman composed ring tone that I used in my phone general profile.

‘Hello, Mummy, How are you and all doing there?’ I said.
‘Good’, my mother said.
‘I started (as I called her rather than), Mom, I’m in R Trend, told her about the sale only (I skipped the movie part). Do you wanna something? I get bought to you from here.
My mother started with blah blah blah… we’re happy with here market only.
‘Mummy, Papa Toh Khoob Hi Kamaat Hain Mehangai Dayian Khaye Jaat Hai’, I passed a comment slightly.

‘I know from where you composed it, OK, if you wanna get something for Nikhil (my younger bro), It would be great.’ My mother said.

‘OK, how is the Nikhil’s exam going’ I said.
‘It’s already been over, 1 month back’, my mother said with different frequency.

(Oh shit, why I am not been connected with my bro; I talked to my self only. And I indicate my mate togo new stall as still I was busy over phone)

‘I know, Mom, I meant… when the result and new semester will start.’ I said.
‘Next month’, my mother said.
After it my mom, turned to a new topic, ‘Have you talked to your Jijaji ? blah blah blah..’ My mother said.
‘Yes, I did. Even they called me about new vision of mobile PC suits’ I said.
‘OK OK, can we discuss these topics in evening? Do you know where I’m? I’m missing some beautiful crowd around me. Ok bye’, I said.
I hang up the phone.

After couple of minutes, we’re done with our shopping. We made the payment at counter.
‘Do you have Reliance card for some extra benefits and reward points?’ man at counter said.
‘NO’, my mate said.
‘Can you go down stairs; there is our customer service centre. They will help you to make this card’, man at counter said.
‘OK’, my mate said.

We went to down stairs. ‘What the hell am I doing here?’ I said.
I was feeling very embarrassing as I saw Lingerie items all where through out that gallery. It was the place for woman collection only, actually. My mates indicated and show me customer care help desk counter.

‘We need a Reliance card for rewards points’, my mate said.
‘You’ll need to fill this form to get temporary card at the moment. After three months Reliance will send you a plastic card, just like your credit card.’ Agent said.
‘What will be benefits after having this card?’ I asked and rotate my eyes around, finally I found a guy who convinced her girlfriend to get some economical stuff. Meanwhile I got a thought, what would be happen if somehow my mother saw me here?

‘If you spent 100 Rs. then you will earn 70p.’ Agent said.
‘OK’, I came out from dream and I said.
We filled that forms, come back to home…

IHG has 'Gone Google'

IHG has partnered with Google in a new advertising campaign. The goal of the Gone Google campaign is to persuade companies to use Google applications to provide better service to customers

During the month of October Google started rolling out billboards inseveral major North American airports including Atlanta, Chicago,Dallas, Denver, New York and Toronto; also in European and Asian
railway stations including London, Paris, Tokyo, Sydney, and Singapore. The billboards will name specific partners that have Gone Google, including IHG.

We use Google applications to provide our guests with more information and a better online experience. Guests can use Google Maps to help them make more informed decisions about their stay at our hotels, local attractions and dining experiences. Among many things the Google Maps application provides us with fast relevant map results and full control over advertising that is displayed on the maps.

Our guests can download a tool which uses Google Earth technology to show where any of our hotels are located. Guests can see the hotel in relation to the surrounding area, pinpoint local places of interest and book a room at the chosen hotel. The tool is self-updating and links directly to IHG’s reservations system. To download it, go to www.earth.ihg.com.
